Shakeelshakeel

Theatre is shakeel's first love. He has had a long association with 'Janam' (Jan Natya Manch) a seminal theatre company performing 'street' plays that have socio-political themes.
Aimed at and by the 'common man' these plays tackle issues like communal harmony, worker's rights, women's rights front on. For many years Shakeel spent half his days at rehearsal and the other half learning various techniques of textile image-making like screen printing and batik. He helped set up people tree studio in Karol Bagh. Now, he is a much 'settled' man having a financially stable job with the government of india but, little do the colleagues at work know that this young man with a genial(if a little lop-sided!) smile has a radical heart! They don't know of his other avatar that conducts theatre work-shops with children which encourage them to find their wild creative side and directs plays that speak of human rights and revolution.
