This young woman combines a gentle, vulnerable face with a strong, independent personality. Ritu is studying for her bachelor's degree in Commerce, by correspondence.She started to work to be able to financially support her family.

Involved in all aspects of work from designing garments to doing accounts, she has become the 'backbone' of people tree. She is clear that she wants to be a person who forges her own destiny. Nothing daunts her and even the regular raving and ranting she gets from her 'boss' Gurpreet doesn't get her down! Neither does the behaviour of aggressive young men that haunt the corridors of Delhi University where she has been instrumental in setting up the new People Tree store.
