“Some time ago, in response to a ‘help wanted’
notice pasted on the front door, a long-haired young woman floated into
People Tree, peering at us from above the rim of a pair of blue spectacles,
and introduced herself as an artist interested in books. Quirky, contrary
and talented, Cherry brings her own style and method to everything she
does: as a garment designer with an original sense of detail and silhouette;
as a writer working to articulate a distinctive voice; as a volunteer
counsellor talking to troubled people about their inner conflicts; or
now as a coordinator of our Web team. Cherry’s particular interest in
books that deal with alternative lifestyles, philosophies, ideas and
sensibilities have enriched and enlarged the scope of our own bookstore
